After arriving in Miami we went to pick up a rental car,
but there was a problem with my credit card. My credit card company said there
was a suspicious $800 charge at a Walmart near Orlando, FL two hours prior. I
told them I didn't charge anything at Walmart and haven't been near Orlando in
years. My credit card company pestered me "Are you SURE you didn't go to a
Walmart today? Did another authorized user of your credit card go there?" She
said the card had been physically swiped. I told her I had the card in my
possession and my wife was with me and we had been flying all day except for a
layover in Saint Louis where I used the card at the airport Chili's restaurant.
I have a strong suspicion that someone from that Chili's is engaged in identity
theft. About two years ago I had my first case of credit card identity theft.
Someone used my credit card to sign up for online p*rn. Interestingly, this was
immediately after a trip to Hawaii where I used my credit card at the LAX
airport Chili's! Conspiracy theory alert!
