How do you configure an RVM with a printer to pay 1 cent per container?

The date/time printed on the voucher doesn’t change or has garbage characters in it such as "?".

Can you configure a PET machine to not use the rear acoustical sensor?

The machine fails for "out of paper" and vends a "reprint" voucher every time the cabinet door is closed.

Can BBRM software be plugged into a redeemer module and vice versa?

Cash light doesn’t come on until second container inserted.

A particular barcode doesn’t scan, is there a way to tweak the scanner so that it will scan this barcode?

How do you configure a can machine to pay 1/2 cent per can with a penny and a nickel hopper installed?

How do you disable the software bin full (by count) and use the bin full beam?

How do you use EAN-13 and EAN-8 barcodes?

How do you can configure an RVM to pay only for specific containers?

CE1992 Redeemer

The RVM does nothing after reading the barcode and the crusher doesn’t operate.

How do you enable the full-by-count feature?

The machine is in "sleep mode", how do I wake it up?

How do you configure an RVM with a printer to pay 1 cent per container?
[added 2-3-2000] Set DEPOSIT (214C) =02 (the number of cents * 0.5), DEPOSIT_ALT (214D) to non-zero. Note that large containers (as defined by the barcode option byte) will be paid more (as defined by the DEPOSIT_ALT parameter).
See PARMS.DO for more info.

How do you can configure an RVM to pay only for specific containers?
[added 10/7/99]

  • For bottles you DON'T want to pay for, set their barcode's option bit 5 (alternate payout bit) to 0 (this is how they are probably set now).

  • For bottles you DO want to pay for, set their barcode's option bit 5 to 1, which means a value of 2.

  • Set the DEPOSIT parameter (214C) to 00. This tells the RVM to NOT normally pay for containers.

  • Set the DEPOSIT_ALT parameter (214D) to 0A = 5 cents. This will cause the RVM to pay DEPOSIT + DEPOSIT_ALT (5 cents) for all container's whose option bit 5 is set.

The date/time printed on the voucher doesn’t change or has garbage characters in it such as "?".
The printer’s battery is dead. Replace battery. Program the date/time into the printer using Syntalk.

Can you configure a PET machine to not use the rear acoustical sensor?
No.

How do you configure a can machine to pay 1/2 cent per can with a penny and a nickel hopper installed?
Set DEPOSIT (214C) to 01.

The machine fails for "out of paper" and vends a "reprint" voucher every time the cabinet door is closed.
If a non-standard voucher is being used, this probably indicates that the voucher is too long. Reduce the amount of text in the voucher and resend with PCMOD.

How do you use EAN-13 and EAN-8 barcodes?
Special 64K software versions are required such as CRPE20-64. The "E" just prior to the software version number indicates the software supports EAN barcodes in addition to regular UPC codes.
The COUNTRY parameter (2156H) defines what country code (1st two digits of an EAN-13 barcode) to accept.
Set to "AA" to accept barcodes from any country, i.e. ignore the first 2 digits of every barcode scanned.

EAN barcodes must be placed in the barcode table in the following format:
EAN-8: Put the first 7 digits of the barcode in the table, followed by "FFF".
EAN-13: Discard the first 2 digits of the barcode, put the next 10 digits into the table, discard the last digit.

Examples:
Barcode table format
EAN-8 : 12345678 => 1234567FFF
EAN-13: 1234567890123 => 3456789012

Note: The laser scanner (EPN 100315) must have SCAN 3 or later software to scan EAN barcodes.

Can BBRM software be plugged into a redeemer module and vice versa?
Yes. There are two types of modules: 8K and 64K. The module doesn’t care whether you plug in a BBRM chip, or a can, glass, or PET chip. Just make sure you use 8K software in 8K modules and 64K software (software versions ending in "-64") in 64K modules. Just make sure you re-initialize the module with PCMOD after plugging the chip in.

How do you disable the software bin full (by count) and use the bin full beam?
Zero the SILO_CNT_MAX parameter (216C, 216D).

Cash light doesn’t come on until second container inserted.
When using the California payout method (2.5 cents for small bottles, 5 cents for large bottles) this will happen if the first container inserted was a small bottle. Use the DEPOSIT_ALT method instead.

A particular barcode doesn’t scan, is there a way to tweak the scanner so that it will scan this barcode?
No. All you can do is make sure that the scanner’s glass window is clean for best performance.

CE1992 Redeemer

The RVM does nothing after reading the barcode and the crusher doesn’t operate.
The MS_MIN_SCANS parameter might be set to a large value. This value determines how many seconds to delay after a cheater is detected (when using the multi-scan feature). Normally, this parameter is set to 0, but if it set to a large value it will appear as though the machine has locked up.

How do you enable the full-by-count feature?
Use an option file such as M_SWFULC.OPT with PCMOD (make sure the option file has the appropriate count).
Details: set SW_BINFULL (A074) to FF, SILO_CNT_MAX (A06D high, A06E low) to the desired level.
For example, to do full at 720 cans, convert 720 to hex = 2D0, set A06D to D0, set A06E to 02.

The machine is in "sleep mode", how do I wake it up?
CE1992 can machines should never enter sleep mode, but if one does, it indicates a module memory error. They only way to recover from this problem is to reinitialize the module with PCMOD. The module may be defective.
