WinRVM (PC version)
Author: Randy Dellinger
This is a beta version of software, it has not been fully tested.
General Options removed the "USB stick drive letter" and "SD card drive
letter" fields as the following menu items now pop up a dialog box showing
the removable drives for the technician to choose from:
File | Copy RVM downloads from SD card
File | Copy U48 RVM downloads from USB stick
File | Update RVM files from SD card/USB stick (this feature now supports USB sticks)
If both an SD card and USB stick are inserted together, the appropriate
drive will automatically be selected as long as the USB stick's name (volume
label) contains "USB".
Menu item "Host | Send RVM downloads to host" now automatically sends any Q files found on all removable devices such as USB sticks, not just the SD card drive, and now also sends U48 Q files.
Fixed a major bug in "Host
| Send RVM downloads to host". Previously, if two Q files had the same
name on two devices such as on the hard drive and a memory stick, the zip
file would not be created nor transmitted but the Q files to be
transmitted would be deleted. WinRVM now logs if duplicate file names are
detected and transmits multiple zip files if necessary until all duplicate
files are sent. This is because we don't include path information in the zip
files, so each file zipped at one time must have a unique name.
Added an additional safety check to the zip routine to ensure the zip file is created to prevent this type of problem occurring in the future.
Clicking an email test button from the Misc Options no longer generates retries if the email fails.
Added NexCycle logo to the NexCycle section of the Misc Options.
Moved "WinRVM font size" from the
to the "User interface" section of the
Fixed long-standing bug: if sending an email with an attachment such as the NexCycle daily report but the internet was down, once the internet came back up and the email was resent, the attachment would not be included if there were more than one email recipient. The log would indicate an error such as "not attaching email@example.com as file was not found".
Reimagine Mode Changes:
Eliminated "If no barcode scanned in X minutes" and supporting fields from
Reimagine Options and moved these settings to the bigfoot.ini file
instead. This allows these settings to be easily changed at all sites by
simply sending a new bigfoot.ini file instead of manually having to change
the settings from the options. Added the following bigfoot.ini settings:
;========== Barcode scanning options =======================
;If no barcode scanned in this many minutes (0=disable)
;from this time
;to this time
;perform various actions:
;reset the scanner if non-zero
;send email if non-zero
;restart WinRVM if non-zero
;reboot the PC if non-zero
If setting up WinRVM on a PC for the first time, follow the installation instructions first!
To upgrade from an older version of WinRVM, you have several choices:
This version requires a full-install if updating from WinRVM prior to 3.0.0.
a) Remote update (for sites running in
Unattended Mode or
Use SiteZipCopier to copy WinRVM359.zip to the corresponding site ID zip filenames and FTP to the "tosite" folder.
The next time each site calls in they will download the zip file and install the new version. For sites with modems, you can also use RVMStatus (or call the site once and hang up) to force an immediate call-back.
On-site manual update:
b) Run WinRVM and select "Host | Check for WinRVM program update" and choose "yes" to install the new version (requires internet connection).
Note: this only updates to the latest fully tested version, not beta versions.
After the update is complete, click "Help | About" to verify the correct version of WinRVM was loaded.
If WinRVM says you must perform a full install, follow choice d.
c) Run Envipco Update software. Note: this only updates to the latest fully tested version, not beta versions.
d) Manual installation of WinRVM.exe. Copy WinRVM.exe from inside the zip file in step a above to c:\program files\WinRVM.
e) Manual full installation:
Uninstall your old version of WinRVM via "start | control panel
| add or remove programs".
Your old WinRVM program settings/options will be maintained. This step isn't mandatory, but will prevent numerous copies of WinRVM from displaying in the add/remove app.
Exit all running programs.
Download the self-extracting setup program:
If you want to install WinRVM on a different PC and the only method you have to get the program there is via floppy disk:
Run WinZip and open the Setup program ( .exe file). Unzip all the files (setup.exe, setup.lst, winrvm1.cab, winrvm2.cab, winrvm3.cab) to multiple floppy disks. Copy all files to the other PC. In step 4 run setup.exe on the other PC.
Run the exe file downloaded in step 3.
Note: you may need to log in as administrator to run the setup program, otherwise you may receive errors such as "unable to register file".
The installation program may ask you to reboot your PC and rerun the setup program.
If the setup program displays "Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system" after rebooting and running setup a second time, click here.
If the setup program displays "A file being copied is not newer than the file currently on your system. It is recommended that you keep your existing file. Do you want to keep this file?", answer "Yes".
You may delete the setup program downloaded in step 3 if desired.
If you didn't previously download prompt.zip from WinRVM 1.36, download it, unzip, and copy prompt.ini to \cf1500.
